Hi Friends and Neighbors,

A small group of East Montpelier residents is carrying forward an idea to create a community-based musical/theatrical production about the life, music and messages of Pete Seeger. As he is finishing up his 90th year, many of us have been inspired to help celebrate his inspiring life by creating an all-ages community-created production.

This idea has been through several incarnations including being attached to the elementary school as an upper grade musical. Recently, however, with the feeling that this would be a wonderful way to build community including both children and adults, we have decided to see where a more inclusive road may lead us.

Here is where you may come in! We would like to invite you to a snack potluck & brainstorming session to envision, inspire, create ideas and maybe sing a little. We would also like to extend this invitation to older children and youth who are interested in participating in this brainstorming process. We are at the very beginning stages of thinking about this as a community project and are open to hearing what your thoughts are.

When: January 30th, 2-4:30

Where: Old Meeting House - Parish House

What to bring: Potluck Snacks, Ideas and Enthusiasm, Rise Up Singing Book (if you have one)

What you can do ahead if you want to: Watch 'The Power of Song' - DVD Documentary on Pete Seeger (available at the Savoy Downstairs), Read Where Have All The Flowers Gone - Pete's recently re-released autobiography, listen to Pete's music....

If you are interested on any level, even if you are not able to come on the 30th, please respond to Erica Zimmerman 223-6930, mczim4@comcast.net or Amy Torchia 249-7633, atorchia1965@yahoo.com
